I'm Back
I’m back in the USA. I’ve reached a creative impasse recently and now that I’m back in the US, I realize that impasse was a result of the lack of English. I went to a cabin in Kyrgyzstan which was amazing (retreat). But there were no English speakers and I didn’t hear English in the background.
Right now I’m sitting at a cafe in California. The English in the background keeps my mind active; the random words floating above the cafe keeps my mind stimulated with new thoughts. That was what I was missing this whole time! I thought the physical environment of being alone in the mountains in a cabin would be conducive to creative output. However, the lack of English inputs really stymied my efforts!
This is why Cambodia was actually a really great place for me to be. It’s an English-dominant society with plenty of cafes. This, it seems, is actually the ideal environment for me to produce creative/artistic works. So, if I decide I want to move forward with more creative works, I’ll have to head back to Cambodia.
Cheers!
So, I actually wrote that a week after I came back but, for whatever reason, Substack did not upload it. So that’s that!
Now what I came here to post. Ironically I got in the writing mood.
Listen to that song! The sun came out and I got in the mood to write! I went to Dollar Tree and bought a new journal and some new pens. Now, my old self, upon upon picking up the receipt, would’ve said, “Hold up. I didn’t get any paper bags. I want a refund!” But Holy Moly! 1 Cent for 2 pens? Everything is a dollar at dollar tree so this must have been a barcode snafu. What a steal! So I walked out super happy.

Yet, unfortunately, this pen did not even last one page before it ran out of ink.
And the second pen only last two pages until it two ran out of ink! No wonder it was priced at 1 cent! Probably the whole batch was shipped bad and Dollar Tree knew it already, which is why it was coded as 1 cent. Lol. So no I have no new two pens. Sigh.
i love your handwriting!
