Who Do We Appreciate?

4-6-8, Who do we appreciate?
I’ve now reduced the price on my book to $4.68! So now, there’s no excuse for not buying. You can buy my book for the same price as a Starbucks Grande, but it’ll last 468 times longer!
Book sales have been pretty good. I had been averaging close to one sale a day for the first two weeks of release, then I left town for a bit to try and relax, and sales slumped since I’m a one-man sales team.
My book has now been out two months, and I’ve had a really high buy rate from people I meet in person. It’s said that first time authors need to keep their first book sale price under $5, because buyers are not willing to spend more than that on an unknown author. So it’s actually quite an impressive feat to have strangers buy my book on the spot, at $8.88 no less!
The reason for this is that I have time to spend and sit down and chat with people. Yes, I’m fishing, but I don’t go in looking to make a sale. Instead, I try and listen to the other person’s story, and see if there is a way to share even better news with them. And if the opportunity to present my book presents itself, then I talk about it.
This time rarely presents itself in the US. Thus, if my effective strategy of selling books hinges wholly on in-person relationships, I’ve already seen the negative impact this has on book sales.
Not actively talking about my book (because I really don’t want to talk about it all the time), I’ve seen practically zero sales. Thus, because I can’t be physically hawking my book in person all the time, I’ve started an Amazon Advertisement campaign.
This is a very expensive adventure! On the entire world wide web, I had eight people across 10 days click the advertisement for my book. Then I reduced the price of my book from $8.88 to $4.68, and in the past three days have seen seven clicks! The reduction in book price does lead to more interest. Unfortunately, this hasn’t translated to any sales. In the old days, you would pay for the ad to be placed in the newspaper. On the internet, you place the ad but only pay if someone clicks on it.
Amazon keeps a portion of the $8.88 sales price, and only gives me back $5.67. And that’s the best case scenario. When someone from India purchased my book, I only received $1.50 from that sales transaction. These 14 ad clicks have cost me $9.50! That’s the equivalent of two to six real book sales! If the fifteenth ad click converts into a sale, I’ve given up two book sale profits to net one book sale. This is a losing proposition, so I will be shutting down the advertising campaign at the end of the month.
If you’d like to support me for the low, one-time cost of $4.68, please consider buying my book — Attraversare: The Travels of Life.
If you truly want to support me AND endeavor to read the book, you can also purchase my book on Google, where I retain $5 from every sale.
If you’ve already bought my book, do let me know too. I appreciate it!
